Rum Review: Ron Zacapa Centenario

This outstanding rum is produced in Guatemala from first press sugar cane juice. Three types of casks are used to create Zacapa: used bourbon, sherry and Pedro Ximenez wine. Zacapa uses the “sistem solera” method to blend their rums, a process in which rums of different ages(and in this case casks)are mixed together in a large vat.

The rums are aged from 6 to 23 years before they are vatted. The result is an incredibly complex and full-bodied rum. Entry is soft vanilla, brown sugar, carmel and toffee with dried apricot and nutmeg undertones.
